More than anything, I want people to know that THESE PAINTINGS EXIST. Also, these two were painted in England and Ireland centuries ago; they’re not modern “re-imagined” paintings.

[Robert Home; Portrait of a Malay Woman. England (c. 1770–1788) Oil on canvas, 92 x 75 cm. The Royal College of Surgeons of England Collection]

[Daniel Maclise; Othello and Desdemona. Ireland (1859)Oil on Canvas, 25.5 x 30.5"]
Don’t get me wrong, I adore re-imagined works of contemporary art, and love it when artists like Kehinde Wiley and S. Ross Browne use these tropes and conventions to push boundaries and make statements.
But please, always try to post as much information as you can about the artworks, so that artists of color living today get credit and get PAID, and so that works that are centuries old get their spotlight after too long collecting dust and indifference.
There are thousands of European historical artworks that feature many different People of Color represented in EVERY facet of society.
